Robotic Process Automation (RPA) employment prospects and training
For those who are new with the term, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a form of business process automation technology based on metaphorical software robots or on artificial intelligence /digital workers. It is sometimes referred to as software robotics.
The last market trends show that the global robotic process automation (RPA) software revenue is projected to reach $1.89 billion in 2021, an increase of 19.5% from 2020, according to Gartner’s latest forecast. Despite economic pressures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the RPA market is still expected to grow at double-digit rates through 2024. In fact, the global pandemic has had a positive impact on the RPA market, as the key driver for RPA projects is their ability to improve process quality, speed and productivity, each of which is increasingly important as organizations try to meet the demands of cost reduction during COVID-19.
In other words, this translates into great employment prospects for those who are starting a career (or already are) in the Software Engineering field. Hence, if you are for example a Software Engineer and want to become an RPA Engineer, there are 50,000+ open positions available worldwide only on LinkedIn, and half of them are Entry-Level. Most roles require experience in C++ and/or Python programming as well as with RPA platforms such as Automation Anywhere and UiPath, among others.
